Two Weeks In

Wow, what a crazy two weeks it has been.  Closing was terrible; movers took twice as long as they were supposed to, closing on our old house took two hours because we had to wait for HUD approval, our down payment check never arrived (it got lost...ended up having to cancel it and do a wire transfer 5 days later! ) and the previous owner of The Peach House started crying at closing!

But it is all over now and we are settling in nicely.  The main level is mostly unpacked, the kids rooms are pretty well set and the master bedroom is a giant mess. Sounds like home!  We have our granite guy coming in, all of the new appliances have been installed, I am painting swatches everywhere and we have already started a couple of projects.

The hardest thing?  Except for stress, the hardest thing for us so far has been focusing.  The Peach House needs so much love and we find ourselves springing around and not focusing.  I need a plan of attack.  It is time to start a list!

Less Than Two Weeks

13 days to go until we close...the pressure is on!  We had an appointment at the house today and were shocked to find the owner there, picking all of the pears and standing water in the basement!  Grrrr.  The pears weren't a big deal, it just felt underhanded. Whatever, I have to let that go. She was not happy that we found the water and now seems to act like we were sneaking into the house (uhhh, you approved the appointment, lady!!). Anyway, we got our vent and radon guy in and hopefully will get a quite and can get that stuff taken care of as soon as we move in.

We ordered appliances as well; new fridge, microwave, dishwasher, disposal, dual fuel range and washer dryer. It's only money, right?!?

I am so sick of packing right now. Not the best timing either.

That's Settled

After two long weeks, we are full steam ahead on The Peach House. We are a little bummed, we didn't get exactly what we wanted, but in the end it was most important for us to 1) get off the roller coaster ride 2) get the house squared away so we can move in!

29 days until we close and I should really be doing more but am not. Story of my life. Chad is getting boxes tomorrow so I hope that will spur me on to get moving here. I did start painting the chair for Charlie's desk today.  I feel like I am spinning my wheels a bit, too.

It will all work out, right???

31 Days to Closing

Our journey started almost a year ago, with a different house and different plan in mind. But I think this one is better for us, for this time and place. Instead of buying a short sale that was almost inhabitable, we are buying a 30 year old gem that needs some love and updating.

I hope to learn how to do more things and use different tools. I want to stretch myself and give my husband a break from the heavy lifting. He can bring home the bacon while I replace the lights.   Hopefully.

This is my place to think out loud, plan, dream and record for posterity.  It is also a chance to sit down and relax before starting up the next project!
